So, why are we putting it to the test today, and what exactly will we examine?

While Undetectable.ai claims exceptional efficiency, like other humanization tools, some users report potential shortcomings. Notably, it’s not always pass the AI detection. And there are grammatical errors in its outputs that will compromise the overall writing quality. 

To verify the tool's effectiveness, we will assess the AI detection rate before and after using Undetectable.ai to rewrite texts. Additionally, our analysis will go beyond numerical changes to include a thorough evaluation of the quality of the rewritten content, helping us determine if Undetectable.ai truly lives up to its promises.

Methodology Explanation  

Here’s how we conducted the tests:

1. We obtained purely AI-generated text from ChatGPT-4. 

2. We then used Undetectable.ai to humanize the AI-generated text.

3. After humanization, we detect the new content’s AI rate again.

4. Finally, we compared the AI change percent and quality of the humanized texts from Undetectable.ai to determine its efficiency in reducing AI detectability.

Testing Text

Topic: The Impact of Climate Change on Global Ecosystems.

Words: 486 words. 

For our testing, we directed ChatGPT-4 to create an essay around 500 words in length, aimed at a college reading level. The reason? This particular length and complexity are typical of content that students and professionals frequently engage with.

We chose a topic of significant complexity and global relevance: The Impact of Climate Change on Global Ecosystems. All the content was generated by ChatGPT-4. Let's first see how the AI ​​performed:

Humanized by Undetectable.ai:  

As you can see, AI text has typical features, such as fixed sentence length and flat tone, so now we use Undetectable.ai to humanize it. We chose “More Human” among the three modes. The step is easy–paste, click, and done.

What Do the Results Say About Undetectable.ai’s Ability to Bypass AI Detection?  

We can take the originality as a benchmark, treating the text as 100% AI-generated. On its humanized-output page, Undetectable.ai claims that its modified text can evade detection tools such as GPTZero, OpenAI, Writer, Crossplag, Copyleaks, Sapling, ContentAtScale, and ZeroGPT. However, our testing revealed some inconsistencies. For a clear view of the AI rate, we made a table.

You can see a notable improvement in evading detection with ZeroGPT and Writer, where the detection rates impressively dropped to 7.33% and 10%, respectively, performance with other tools wasn't as promising.

It struggles significantly with Quillbot and Originality.ai, where the AI-generated text was still detected as 100% AI. Additionally, GPTzero detected 35% AI presence, which suggests some effectiveness but still reveals a considerable AI footprint.

How Good is the Quality of Undetectable.ai’s Humanized-Text?

As we previously discussed, a change in AI detection scores doesn't signify that the text is ready for use. So, this brings us to a crucial question: Does the text effectively balance undetectability with the quality and readability expected of human-written content?

To explore this, we turned to Grammarly to critically assess the readability and grammatical integrity of the text processed by Undetectable.ai. What did we discover?

1. Low Overall Score, Poor Readability & Grammar 

GrammarlyPro score: 60 out of 100. This is a figure low enough to raise red flags.

Why was the score so low? 

Grammatical errors and clarifications are the main issues reported by Grammarly. There are 35 missing commas and some clarification suggestions, marked in blue. In addition, the logic and connections between sentences are also weak, not to mention some sentences make no sense or lack persuasiveness.

Additionally, we found that many of the changes made by Undetectable.ai seemed to be simple word replacements with minimal substantive rewriting. For instance, alterations like changing "such as" to "like" or "this shift can result" to "this change can lead" did little more than superficially alter the text. 

All these problems lower the overall quality of the essay.

2. Accept Grammarly's Suggestion

So, does Undetectable.ai bypass AI detectors by intentionally introducing grammatical errors and lowering readability? What happens if we correct these errors?

Driven by curiosity about these questions,  we accepted all of Grammarly's suggestions, which improved the overall score to 99 out of 100. 

We then retested the AI detection rates.

3. AI Detection Scores After Improvements:  

Interestingly, except for Quillbot, all AI detection tools showed an increase in AI likelihood compared to the version with poorer grammar, with ZeroGPT exhibiting the most significant rise, from 7.33% to 43.95%. 

What does this indicate?

It appears that Undetectable.ai might be using grammatical errors to bypass AI detection. And there's more to the story—don't overlook the content quality. Even after correcting these errors, the text still needed significant improvements to reach the standards of high-quality, human-written text. 

How User-Friendly is Undetectable AI?

Overall, Undetectable AI is easy to use, boasting a straightforward and accessible user interface. It excels in processing speed, quickly performing AI detection and humanization tasks.  

One notable aspect of Undetectable AI's design is its input limitations. Each request is capped at 15,000 characters, including spaces and punctuation, and the platform does not offer an option to upload files directly. This character limit generally suffices for standard tasks. Still, users must make multiple submissions for more extensive documents, which could complicate processing larger amounts of text.

Furthermore, Undetectable.ai has limited options in writing purposes. It offers five readability levels and nine writing purposes. Although this provides some customization, the selection is relatively limited compared to other tools on the market. So if you need specialized or technical content, this is not a good choice.
